Why is it that some days we feel so inspired, so energetic, so positively overflowing with confidence and zest that we feel as if we can take on the entire world? (and win). And why is it that the rest of the time, our attitude can vary from feeling somewhat-positive to ambivalence to downright hopelessness? (Yes, ambivalence is the correct word – sometimes I feel conflicted about striving to be successful).
If you’re looking for an answer to this question, I’m afraid that I don’t have all the answers. A comprehensive answer could involve the psychology of the mind, your environment, what you ate that day, and perhaps a beautiful song or painting that inspired you. But finding out what inspires you is not the purpose of this column. Instead, lets talk about how to recognize these Super Days when they occur and discuss strategies for taking full advantage of them.
I’m completely honest when I say that Super Days happen once in a blue moon for me. I’ve been more productive today than I have been in 90% of the weeks of my life. Think about that for a second. The implications are enormous: Super Days allow for huge productivity gains. My actions are 1000% more effective today than they are on most days. That means increased effort and time in the gym, increased brain power committed to all my tasks ( including my writing – this is my 4th article today – and the day isn’t over yet ), and tremendous amounts of positive energy to apply to whatever project or endeavour I choose to engage in. Normally I would hem and haw and second guess my decisions, even when it comes to starting projects that I have a vision for and have little-to-no risk. No, not today. I’ve committed to starting 5 websites today already, and I’ve kept my feet on the pedal the entire day!
Sorry, that turned out to be a long interesting fact! Lets get back to the question I promised to talk answer: What should you do when you have a Super Day? Well, the worst thing you can do is to get caught up in doing things that don’t really matter, like going to your 9-5 if working at your 9-5 is not part of your bigger plan. If your productivity level today is going to be through the roof, then work on the most important things, the things that matter to you the most. Your creativity and subconscious mind are working overtime, generating new ideas and directions for you to go in and you need to harness them as much as you can! When I write articles, I write a lot better when I’m in the mood, focused, and in the zone. I never force myself to write if I don’t have anything important to talk about. Sometimes I will go for weeks, even months without writing. Some people can write every day. But if you are like me and much more productive on some days then you are on others, then you need to bunker down, turn off the cell phone, and take advantage of this rare burst of energy and confidence that you’ve been blessed with by working on whatever inspires you the most! The Super Day is a gift, and you need to treasure it!
Let me know about Super Days that you’ve had! Other readers and I want to hear all about them. Maybe your story will inspire someone else to have a Super Day!

This past week was filled with Super Days for me… It’s like steroid infused blood runs through my body on days like that. I am beginning to think the increased energy, focus, and control of my body and mind is linked to the meditating I’ve started to do more often. I also think you are on to something about being hit with certain art. Some days the music hits me just right or a picture will spark a certain switch. Just a theory, but it seems to have some plausible reasoning behind it.
Super post!
